This KBO Betting season has not been good for the Hanwha Eagles as they currently rank 9 in the standings. Even though they did manage to win their last 2 games, they remain 14 games behind the Twins. Thus, they have begun to clean their act and become tougher on their players. Thus, in an announcement made today, the Hanwha Eagles release Brian O’Grady from the team.
According to the announcement, the Hanwha Eagles have made a request to the KBO to place O’Grady on waiver. In addition, they said that they would find his replacement in the lineup as soon as possible.

According to Korean baseball betting insiders, Brian O’Grady became part of the Hanwha Eagles last December. However, after 22 games in the KBO, the ex-MLB hitter he had a .125/.174/.163 line and eight RBIs without homeruns. Furthermore, he struck out 31 times after 80 times at bat.
Early in the season, O’Grady was sent down to the minor league after batting .127 in 17 games. During his time in the minor league, he only got a .179 batting average in 8 games. He was given another chance at the major in May but did poorly batting .118 with nine strikeouts.
Thus, they sent him back to the minor leagues but then got an oblique injury. Therefore, they felt they had no choice but to release him from the team. Especially if they want a shot at the KBO playoffs this year.
So far this year, the Hanwha Eagles have not had any luck with their foreign players. This is because in April, they also had to release pitcher, Burch Smith due to a shoulder injury. Not wanting to wait out the injury, they chose to release him and got Ricardo Sanchez to replace him.
While releasing foreign players is not uncommon, the Eagles are the first team to release two foreign players this season. According to KBO rules, they can only replace up to 2 of those 3 players within a season.
