Singapore Casino Entry Fee is Increasing

Residents of Singapore who like to play casino games are in for a bad surprise.  This is because the Singapore Casino Entry Fee is Increasing by 50% for locals. Thus, Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents will now have pay $$150 instead of $$100 to enter a casino in Singapore.

Furthermore, the annual fee will also increase from $$2,000 to $$3,000. This is according to announcement by the Ministry of Trade, Finance, Home Affairs and Family Development on Wednesday. They said the decision was made to keep the spread of problem gambling and to keep it under control.

Interestingly enough, the increase casino fee comes at a time when several gambling operations are expanding into Singapore. This includes the gambling expansion in Marina Bay Sands and Resort World Sontosa.

According to sports betting software companies, the locals visiting casinos has seen a significant decline in the last decade. Therefore, the ministry says that gambling problems are under control.  However, the decision to increase casino fee comes from several factors.

Some of these factors in how much to increase the fee come from problem gambling and household income.  In addition, the cost for alternative gambling locations was also taken into consideration.

According to the announcement, authorities are also making stricture rules for the pre-payment and activation periods for the entry fee. Starting in August, clients will only be able to buy a second daily or annual fee under certain conditions.

Thus, in order to buy a second daily entry fee, the first one has to expire within six hours.  Furthermore, the fee will automatically start six hours after it has been bought.
