Oregon Lottery Partners with SBTech to Launch Sports Betting

Oregon has never had any restrictions with sports betting since it was exempt from PASPA back in 1992. Unfortunately, in 2005 Oregon lawmakers chose to stop all sports betting services within its borders. However, this is about to come to an end as the Oregon Lottery Partners with SBTech to Launch Sports Betting.

According to sports news betting news source, Oregon plans to have sports betting and gambling available in September. This is because the partnership with SBTech will allow them to facilitate both mobile and retail sports gambling.

Choosing SBTech as their Partner

Oregon Lottery Partners with SBTech to Launch Sports BettingBefore choosing SBTech as their sports betting software and partner of choice, Oregon went thru several companies. Last year, the Oregon Lottery Commission (OLC) began to look at different proposals from various gambling providers. In fact, they even went to visit several companies in their headquarters as part of their decision making process.

In the end, they chose SBTech because they were a perfect for all of their requirements.  Furthermore, SBTech made the commitment to meeting their September deadline. This is because as one of the largest gambling platform company, they have the capabilities to meet the deadline.

The Oregon Lottery is very happy with the prospect of having sports betting available in the state.  This is because it will allow them to have additional revenue “without asking players of our current games to play or wager more”.

In addition, Oregon plans on having sports betting kiosks available as early as the first quarter of next year.  Therefore allowing players more flexibility an options when placing their bets.

However, gambling analysts believe that there may be some delays in the September sports betting launch.  This is due to the introduction of a new amendment that would restrict the sales of sports betting tickets. The amendment by Senator Hass would make it so that sports wagering tickets can only be done via equipment owned or leased by the OLC.
