Gambling in Macau has been legal since 1850 and is one of the most popular gambling locations for Chinese people. Every casino and sports betting companies wants to have a gambling operation in Macau but new gambling license are rare. However, lately several rumors have been spreading that the Macau government may have a new casino license available. Thus, it is natural that Suncity Group wants a Casino License in Macau.
Andres Lo Kai Bong of Suncity group, said that “Suncity group would love” to get a license. However, everything at the moment is just rumors. This is because the Macau government has not yet made a formal announcement about having a new license available.
Rumors about Macau releasing New Casino Gaming Rights
The Suncity group has often shown an interest in establishing their brand in Macau. In addition, according to sports betting software analysts, they are waiting for 2022 when the current 6 casino licenses expire.
However, the waiting game for Suncity group may end sooner than 2022. This is because of a statement made this month by Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong Vai Tac. He basically said that the government is currently doing preparatory work to allow the processing for gaming rights before 2022.
In addition, during his statement the new gaming license would involve certain stipulations like pledging to increase non-gaming elements. Several online casino analysts believe there is a large possibility that Macau will introduce a seventh gambling license.
Suncity Group is not a newcomer to the gambling industry and has been increasing their gaming investment in China. In addition, they have been building new gaming resorts in Vietnam, and made third party gambling deals in other markets.
At the moment, Suncity group has several deals in Macau that involve properties, travel, food and entertainment. Even if they obtain a casino gambling license in Macau, they do not think it will affect their other businesses. Therefore, it is not unusual if Suncity Group wants a Casino License in Macau due to its current position.
