Park Sung-hyun makes season debut in ANA Inspiration. She’s one of the dozen South Koreans who are playing at the tournament this weekend.
The LPGA season started in January with two events in Florida. Then the LPGA tour moved to Australia for two more tournaments.
However, the season stopped in February due to the coronavirus pandemic. The LPGA resumed its season in July. Initially, ANA Inspiration was the first major of the LPGA. However, the organization postponed the tournament and made AIG Women’s Open the first major of the year.
The former number one planned to play at the HSBC Women’s World Championship last February in Singapore. Park was the defending champion of the tournament. However, she was still nursing a shoulder injury.

Based on sports news coverage, Park spent her off time in South Korea. She played at the KLPGA Championship last May. Also, she participated in a charity skins match against Ko Jin-young, who is the current top women’s golfer.
Park ranked second at the start of 2020. However, she went down two spots during her hiatus, according to a sports forum. She told reporters that she’s nervous going into ANA Inspiration because she has been away from the LPGA Tour for a long time.
Also, Park doesn’t have any high expectations for herself. She hopes to get some momentum as she plays in a competitive environment for the first time since her injury. Also, she hopes to win some tournaments and finish 2020 on a high note.
Sports betting odds are not in her favor for the ANA Inspiration Major. Eight of the top ten players are participating in the tournament. However, Ko and Ranked 10 Kim Hyo-joo are choosing to stay home in South Korea.
