Bally’s proposed temporary Medinah Temple casino got initial approval from the Illinois Gaming Board. According to the recent gambling headlines, the board found the temporary casino is qualified for preliminary suitability.
However, the Gaming Board noted that Bally’s must comply with some requirements before it can open the temporary gaming facility. According to online casino experts, the casino operator needs to clear several legal requirements, such as a test run of the casino. Also, it needs to get a temporary operating license for the proposed casino.
Once Bally’s complies with those requirements, the Illinois Gaming Board can give the operator a temporary operating license without putting it for a vote. Thus, Bally’s hopes to open the doors of the temporary casino in the summer. However, it is still uncertain if it can comply with the requirements.
Temporary Medinah Temple Casino
Soo Kim, Bally’s chairman, said it was a “heavy thing” to get state approval for Chicago’s first casino.
According to Bally’s chief legal officer Kim Barker Lee, if the $1.7 billion permanent casino in River West is permitted and completed, it will produce 3,000 jobs. The temporary casino is planned to create more than 500 jobs. The target diversity percentages for Bally’s employees are 60% minorities, 45% female, 5% veterans, and 5% individuals with impairments.
According to experts in online gambling in South Korea, the gaming area at Medinah Temple spans 34,000 square feet over the casino’s 134,000 total square feet (across all three floors). When finished, the makeshift casino will include over fifty gaming tables and seven hundred and fifty slot machines. There will also be a bar, an Asian restaurant, a cafe, and a more relaxed restaurant serving American fare at this location.
Bally’s casino dealer school reportedly has over 400 applicants but only 200 pupils. Two recent job fairs for permanent and temporary casinos drew over 1,500 attendees, and more than 11,000 persons have applied for positions.
