The state House passed a North Dakota sports betting bill that would amend the state’s constitution. The Senate is currently tackling the bill. Named House Concurrent Resolution No. 3002, the bill calls for a constitutional amendment allowing sports wagering.
Players can bet on sports only at casinos and on tribal grounds. Also, they can’t play online slot machines.
On 3 January, the measure was initially introduced in the state House. Then, on 12 January, they held a second reading. Finally, they approved the bill with a vote of 49 to 44. Congress then sent the bill to the Senate.
North Dakota Sports Betting Bill
In the House of Representatives, 12 people are backing this bill: 11 Republicans and 1 Democrat.
According to iGaming Korea reports, the Senate must also vote in favor of the measure for it to become law.
In such a case, the measure would be on the ballot for the next general election in 2024.
According to gambling website reviews and news sites, the state of North Dakota has tried and failed before to legalize sports betting. In addition, the state senate did not approve a similar bill filed in 2019. Another try in 2021 was likewise unsuccessful.

The American Gaming Association claims that North Dakotans already spend over $300 million per year on sports betting with unlicensed bookmakers, offshore sportsbooks, other states, and native tribes.
