The iDevelopment and Economic Association, or iDEA, unveiled its online betting responsible advertising code. The nonprofit trade association represents online gambling and sports wagering firms within legal gaming markets in the US.
According to Korean sportsbook reports, iDEA acknowledged the importance of gambling ads within regulated markets. The association said marketing legal sports wagering and online gambling options support healthy competition. Also, ads promote several options for consumers.
iDEA said that its new advertising code will promote responsible gaming initiatives. Also, the association reaffirmed that its members commit to the advertising code. It included ensuring members comply with the code and promoting responsible gambling.
Online Betting Responsible Advertising Code
Members of the iDEA must also adhere to the laws and rules governing iGaming and sports betting in each state in which they conduct business. The last guideline concerns targeting your ads to people of legal gambling age, whether they are interested in sports betting, online casinos, or online poker rooms. Unless a jurisdiction has a rule explicitly permitting gamblers as young as 18, the minimum age to participate is 21.
According to iDEA, the Responsible Advertising Committee drafted the organization’s Responsible Advertising Code. The Association stated they would evaluate the Code annually and make any required changes.
Executive Board Member at iDEA and Light & Wonder’s worldwide head of government affairs and legislative counsel, Howard Glaser, outlined the stringent restrictions governing the online gaming and betting industry. He explained how the limitations could not be separated from the concept of responsible gaming advertising.
Boyd Interactive CEO and iDEA executive board member Jim Ryan emphasized the need for responsible gambling advertising in protecting at-risk populations. He said that iDEA’s members had shown their dedication to responsible gaming and best practices by adopting the Responsible Gambling Code. Such code should also be practiced in online gambling in South Korea.
