Global Online Gambling Company Betway Enters the German Sports Betting Market to increase their presence in the sports betting industry. According to gambling news outlets, yesterday the company was able to obtain a sports betting license for the German market.
Furthermore, after receiving permission from the German gambling regulatory authority, Betway can now offer their internet services to Germans. Some of their iGaming products that will be available to Germans include, online sports betting, online casinos, Bingo and Poker.
Betway Enters the German Sports Betting Market as Part of their Global Expansion
According to sports news, the acquisition of a sports betting license from German regulators is part of their expansion strategy. Earlier this year, Betway has also been moving into other countries which include the Brazil, South Africa and the U.S.
In the U.S. Betway is already in 10 states thanks to an agreement with Digital Gaming Corporation. Furthermore, Betway made headlines 2 weeks ago by securing the title sponsorship for South Africa’s CST20 Cricket tournament.
Therefore, it comes to no surprise to gambling investors that they now have a sports betting license in Germany. This is because Germans are familiar with Betway due to several successful partnerships with German football teams. Such teams include SV Werder Bremen, Hertha BSC and VfB Stuttgart.
The German Gambling Regulatory Authority is fairly new as it has only been around for a little over a year. Their main job is to regulate online gambling and online casino games which was previously illegal in Germany.
Needless to say, Betway is very happy with the acquisition of an online sports betting license in Germany. Furthermore, Betway CEO, Anthony Wekam said this will give them “Transparency and security to cement” their position in Germany.
He also said that they “look forward to delivering on our commitment to our German customers”. Thus, they intend to offer an “online experience in a safe, fair and responsible environment”.
