While MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment, both owners of casinos worth billions of dollars, investigated the intrusions, the hacker organization Scattered Spider claimed on Thursday that it had stolen six gigabytes of data from the firms’ computers.

A gang spokeswoman told Reuters through the messaging app Telegram that they have no plans to release the information to the public and would not comment on whether they have demanded ransom from the corporations.

An anonymous cybersecurity specialist who manages the malware sample repository “vx-underground” gave Reuters the group’s contact information. When asked how much information was compromised, neither Caesars nor MGM provided a statement.

According to casino reviews and news sites, MGM previously stated it was collaborating with law enforcement to fix a “cybersecurity issue.”
