South Korea takes their community service seriously. Even top athletes cannot escape from this. All able-bodied South Korean males should contribute two years military service. But there are certain exemptions to this. In the Case of Jang Hyun-soo, he gained exemption when he won a gold medal during the Asian Games last 2014. There is a law that states that Olympic winners and Asian Games Gold Medal winners gain this privilege by giving prestige and contributing to the good reputation to South Korea.

A caveat, is that those who will gain exemption will need to complete basic military training. This usually lasts for around two months. And the requirement is to provide 544 hours of community service in sports over a period of 34 months. This law is effective since 2015.

National Football Team Player Lies

Rep. Ha Tae-kyung from the Bareun Mirae Party has discovered that player Jang Hyun-soo has lied about his community service. This was done in accordance with the Military Manpower Administration’s audit meeting. Ha, in an announcement, says that Jang gave a document detailing 196 hours of community service during December 2017. However, further investigation shows that the weather proved the act impossible, and that the photos submitted to show as proof were actually photos from just one day. Football betting fans will not be happy with what can happen to Jang.

Jang has been a key player for the national football team. He has also been playing in all of the matches under their new head coach Paulo Bento. Jang has released an apology, and a promise to complete his community service. He will also not play during the friendlies in November. The Korean Football Association also has a rule that bans players if they are involved in social misconduct from joining the national football team. Rep. Ha has requested the KFA to sanction Jang. Those who are into National Football Team betting should keep themselves updated on any changes in the roster.
