The Korean Baseball Organization, or the KBO, is quite a bit into controversy as two baseball players who were able to avoid indictment on their sexual assault cases are back in the field. Initially, the players, Cho Sang-woo and Park Dong-won have indefinite suspensions over the allegations. Both players are from the Kiwoom Heroes.

But since they avoided indictment, their bans were lifted. Now, the KBO has orders for the two players to perform 80 hours in community service. This is punishment for them causing damage to the dignity of the league.

Baseball Players’ Allegations

Cho is the closer of the Heroes, while Park is their catcher. They are both named in allegations from a woman who was sexually assaulted while she was intoxicated in a team hotel last May in Incheon. This was during the time the team had a game against the SK Wyverns. This was under investigation for months, but the prosecution made a decision to junk the case as there is no sufficient evidence to indict the two players. According to Cho, he had consensual relations with the woman, while Park said that after the three of them had drinks together, he went back to his hotel room.

After this issue became public last May, the KBO immediately set a ban for both players in any baseball activity. Both players were out for 95 games. Those who are into baseball betting know that changes in the roster can affect their online sports betting plans. And things have changed, since both players are consistent in providing great participation in their team.

The Kiwoom Heroes are currently in Arizona, US, for their spring training. There are no announcements so far on their return to the team, so baseball fans should keep an eye out for updates for the upcoming KBO season.
